NYPD seeks suspect in Howard Beach subway station theft

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying an individual wanted for questioning in connection to a grand larceny in Howard Beach.

At approximately 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, a 70-year-old woman was waiting to board a northbound A train at the Howard Beach-JFK Airport station when the individual grabbed her purse from a bench at the station, according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

The individual then boarded the northbound A train and fled the area, police said.

The purse contained around $40 and several bank cards. No injuries were reported during the incident, according to the NYPD.

The NYPD has released a surveillance photo of the suspect.
