STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NYPD is seeking the public’s help identifying two people sought for questioning in connection with a reported grand larceny incident in Concord.

Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, an unidentified man and a woman approached a 54-year-old woman near the intersection of Richmond Road and Steuben Street, according to a written statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

The pair claimed to know the 54-year-old’s daughter and said the daughter had won a scholarship but that processing fees needed to be paid first, police said.

After that, the two people followed the 54-year-old woman to her home and received almost $4,000 from her, saying the money would be reimbursed, according to the NYPD statement.

The two individuals then fled with the money in a white Chevrolet Equinox, police said.

Police describe the first individual sought for questioning as a man with a light complexion, slim build and short hair. He was seen wearing glasses, a green sweatshirt, blue pants and gray boots.

The second individual is described as a woman with a light complexion. She was seen wearing glasses, a black hat, a pink sweater, black pants and white sneakers.

Anyone with information about the alleged incident is asked to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted online at the Crime Stoppers website at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or on X @NYPDTips.
