Times Square shooting: Cops seek suspects who shot teen during Knicks’ championship celebration

According to police sources, the incident unfolded around 2 a.m. on June 14 near the corner of Broadway and West 43rd Street, as thousands had taken to the streets to celebrate the Knicks’ victory the night before.

While some let off fireworks and hundreds of others scaled school buses intended to ferry fans to the World Cup, law enforcement sources said, two suspects brandished handguns and decided to fire them off in the crowded “Crossroads of the World.”

Sources familiar with the investigation confirmed that the shots were not fired in celebration of the Knicks’ win, but rather to hit an unspecified target.

Amid the mayhem, cops said, a 17-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the left foot. Due to the thousands celebrating, an ambulance could not make through the crowd and reach the teenager.

Instead, cops piled him into a police cruiser and drove him to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the suspects behind the fired shots fled the scene on foot. One of the persons of interest was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants. The second man wore a white shirt and red shorts.
