STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Rep. Nicole Malliotakis secured endorsements from two law enforcement organizations as she seeks a fourth term in Congress.
The Port Authority Sergeants Benevolent Association and the Retired Sergeants Association of the NYPD announced their support for Malliotakis’ re-election campaign.
The Port Authority Sergeants Benevolent Association represents over 800 active and retired members of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department. The Retired Sergeants Association of the NYPD represents 4,000 retired members of the department.
Port Authority Sergeants Benevolent Association President Robert Zafonte Jr. praised Malliotakis’ support for law enforcement, stating the congresswoman has shown a “willingness to listen to our concerns, address our needs, and provide the necessary resources to ensure our success.”
Retired Sergeants Association President Robert V. Cotumaccio said the organization backs Malliotakis because she has “demonstrated your concern and commitment to the well-being of public service retirees and for the safety and security of the citizens of New York.”
In response, Malliotakis, a Republican who represents Staten Island and South Brooklyn, said she would continue advocating for funding, training, and resources for Port Authority police. She also pledged continued support for ensuring 9/11 first responders and survivors receive coverage and care from the World Trade Center Health Center.
“I will always speak out in support of the benefits they have earned,” Malliotakis said of retired NYPD members.
